I apologize if this idea is in the wrong spot but I wanted to put it out there. I was sitting at my desk in low light trying to plug in my USB headset and I was struggling to find the port. It got my thinking how in my car there is an LED rim around all ports so you can easily plug stuff in, in the dark. I thought it would be a good idea to maybe have expansion cards with similar technology.

While I don’t think it’s very likely that Framework will start making these (there are just a ton of people with a ton of ideas), it sounds like that should be fairly easy to DIY. You’d “just” have to open up an original expansion card, find some place to hook up LEDs and either try to jam that into a 3D printed expansion card enclosure (maybe with thinner plastic around the port or something to get the desired look) or possibly event the original enclosure (there is a bit of a gap around the ports, maybe that’d be enough)

Get one of the translucent cards they now have available and fit a couple of low powewr LEDs wired to the 5V line. Unfortunately I think only the USB-C cards come in the coloured varieties. I wish they would do the USB-A ones as well.
