I am considering getting myself the dGPU as a xmas gift, however despite looking I haven’t found many sources that compare the iGPU to the dGPU performance. I’d like to know approximately how many x faster the dGPU is on average.
Do any of you know where I can find this?
Thanks.
Google would have been your friend, but let me google that for you
AMD Radeon RX7700S
AMD Radeon 780m
Based on the Timespyscore its about 3,75x faster.
I can run a few benchmarks and post the results for you if you think that’ll help.
From my research being in a similar situation, performance is usually about 4x
It’s a lot, but also depends what you need.
Some people (like me) still think dGPU is necessary to play games at good enough quality, run simulations or AI stuff.
Some other people may be OK to use iGPU for lightweight gaming, normal games with low quality graphics… or just normal PC use.
I submitted a randomly selected unit from a population of 1 to a highly scientific lab in my living room. The rigorously scientific test consisted of running video stabilization in Davinici Resolve 19 on a video of a big fat elephant seal throwing sand on itself. It was first done on the iGPU by totally on purpose accidentally crashing the dGPU drivers, and then again on the 7700S by carefully initiating a click of the restart button. Resolve reported processing the video clip at 50-60fps on iGPU, and 150-170fps on the 7700S.
Subjective reports indicate that the impact of the time savings was negligible, as processing time was usually used to sip tea, and sip time was unaffected by graphics performance.

Thanks for the feedback folks. I ordered one.
