I recently received my preorder for the Framework 13 with an AMD Ryzen AI HX 370, 2.8K screen, Italian keyboard, and a bunch of expansion cards. No RAM or storage since I had my own 980 Pro and some Crucial RAM that was listed as compatible. First time buying a Framework laptop.
As the title says, the input cover just won’t sit flush. I tried disassembling and reassembling it, I tried tightening the screws in different orders - no matter what, it just won’t sit flush. The gap is 1-2mm, so it’s not exactly small. I already checked there’s nothing obstructing it. Yes, I’m aware one of the screws is meant to push it open - that’s also tight.
I honestly think the input cover I received might be bent because I don’t know what else it could be. I already opened a support ticket but decided to try opening a topic anyway just in case I’m doing something wrong. I think from the pictures it’s very clear that it’s not a screw issue.
This happened to me yesterday for some reason my input cover didn’t sit back in flush (I’ve had my FW13 since 2021). I just very gently bent the input cover in the opposite direction so that the corner stuck out a bit and then the screw fixed the corner bit with some added pressure to help. Not the most elegant solution but it worked for me.
Framework support got in touch with me. Hopefully it will be resolved with a replacement. In the meantime here is a picture I took to show framework how bent it is. I don’t think I realized myself how bad it was until I took the picture.
If you’re getting a replacement anyways, it’s worth a shot to try to gently bend it in the opposite direction of the bend and see if the input cover is salvageable. It might be worth having a spare down the line.
I actually got a reply from framework a bit ago. They are gonna send me a replacement one since they agree mine is bad. I am waiting on the rma team to contact me. I might attempt to do that once I get the new one and I am sure it’s working. I’ll keep this topic open till then
