Given they use the same midplate connector and are compatible with all previous mainboards it almost certainly is the same matrix so no nkro, but at least also not the “new and improved” matrix from the 12.
Will the new Keyboard Variants be available in other languages than only english? I love the orange and the lavender one ^^
They did ![]()
Will there be an option for gray upgrade kit with the LCD back panel? For now I see only one with the LCD itself, but I’d love to have the new battery, audio and chassis, but keep my motherboard and LCD.
Thought so. Oh well, it’s worth it for the battery for me and I get to replace the chassis that had an argument with gravity. I’ll just have to get it engraved again.
Is there any way, somebody can tell me, why they don’t mention anything about Coreboot? This is one of the most requested features over the years, and I hear all about “we heard you” and “we value privacy” while you provide machines that are completely remotely controllable by Intel.
Also not sure if this has already been answered but will there be an ISO input cover? Again I assume so, as the upgrade kit seems to have an option for British English. Really looking forward to this upgrade.
Will the pro be available in silver as a complete unit or only silver upgrade parts? Black anodized always looks dirty and smudgy to me.
Framework Laptop 13 Pro Input Cover Kit - Clear ISO - Graphite
Framework Laptop 13 Pro Input Cover Kit - Blank ISO - Graphite
Silver is only available through our Marketplace parts/ upgrade kits. The configurator for Framework Laptop 13 Pro DIY or Pre-Built device will only be Graphite currently.
Are the audio optimizations/dolby atmos windows only or will they be available for linux as well in the future?
Currently as in, maybe silver eventually? Or no plan for silver. Thank you for the information!
Being completely honest, no idea and who knows what the future holds. That decision involves LOTS of other teams like Supply Chain, Logistics, Hardware, Quality Assurance, and many others.
There’s been some promising progress recently on that front: Coreboot/OpenSIL Porting Underway for AMD FW16 .
But I do agree that it should be a high priority item.
Thanks for sharing this detail.
Feedback: It would be nice to have Silver available as an option when configuring a Pre-Built or DIY configuration, just to ensure all parts have been ordered (when buying a totally new Laptop 13 Pro, not upgrading an existing Laptop 13 to Pro). For those of us who don’t like seeing fingerprints, having Silver instead of Graphite would be welcome.
Still, now knowing the Marketplace is the way to order Silver, I’ll order there in order to get a Silver Pro 13. Glad there is at least a way to do this!
with module speeds up to 7467 MT/s
Am I right that that means a memory bandwidth of 119.5 GB/s? So slightly less than the base m5 macbook air or pro which apparently is at 153.6 GB/s, but about on par with the M4 and better than my m1 macbook air which has 68.3 GB/s. And very far behind apple’s pro or max variants.
Apparently this matters a lot for running local LLMs so thought I’d bring it up. Also interesting to speculate about future generations and what the chances are of eventually beginning to catch up to apple with a wider memory bus, which I guess really depends on intel or amd
Would also LOVE to see a 16 pro
Framework 13 Pro is an almost perfect roadmap for my next laptop upgrade. Long battery, sturdy built, professional look, the most efficient intel lineup today, and my country is finally on the list for purchase! Thanks.
One thing that makes me wait for hopefully another year, probably another “next gen” update… pen with pressure sensitivity. Unfortunately, this is a must for my workflow and Framework 12, despite all of its appeal (rigid built, plastic reminds me of good ol’ thinkpads…, and with colors!), is a bit underwhelming in term of power and screen real estate.
Is the memory single channel? If so, is it slower than 5600MT/s dual channel SODIMM DDR5?
That may be a problem because as it looks the new touch display is still a soft lcd not the glass topped kind you can just poke a pen at.
No lpcamm is 2/4(with dimms having 1/2 channels per module) channels per module.
