I have recently reloaded Windows 11 on my laptop, which meant I had to update the Framework firmware too. After this, every time I reload I got a “firmware need to be updated to 0.3.1” for both keyboard and numpad. Once booted into Windows 11, I removed the numpad, held the 2 Alt keys, and reinstalled the numpad. Once the RPI.RP2 folder was visible, I copied the numpad firmware to that folder. Rather than updating the numpad, it seems the keyboard has been upgraded instead, rendering it useless.
As the keyboard does not work, I am unable to use the 2 alt keys, to open bootloader so that I can use the erase firmware. Des anyone know how else I can open bootloader, without the keyboard working?
When flashing firmware manually with a .uf2 file, it’s best to always remove any secondary input module (numpad, macropad, keyboard). To be certain you can’t flash the wrong device. If needed, if the laptop complains about unpopulated spaces, there is a BIOS option to override that.
For normal flashing, you can follow the “On Windows” or “On Linux” instructions here, github.com/FrameworkComputer/qmk_firmware/releases, which, I hope, Framework has made sure won’t flash the wrong device.
Could not be happier - that app has enabled me to erase the firmware, as well as uploading the version I needed to. I was also able to update the numpad too.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart, MJ1 - you are a lifesaver!!!
It is, and he is. He helped me immensely in getting things working so that I could load a mildly customized firmware on the keyboard. Glad that you got things working, have a great day!
