I just received a Laptop 13 (AMD Ryzen™ 7040 Series - 7640U - 2.8K Display) and I wanted to boot on Fedora (tried 40 and 41).
As I’m new to Linux, i followed the guide carefully and prepared a usb stick using Fedora Media Writer.
The computer detected the usb key (its name was listed in the BIOS) but it never managed to boot on Fedora with it. I opened up the computer, replaced the SSD and the RAM. Also did the reset suggested in a few posts using the ‘Disconnect battery’ option in the BIOS. That did not help.
Moreover, this seems to be specifically linked to Fedora (or Fedora Media Writer), as the same usb key was detected with a Windows 11 prepared with Rufus and with a Ubuntu 24.04 LTS prepared with BalenaGraveur.
Finally, i booted on Ubuntu by default, but if anyone had the same problem, I would like to understand why the computer could not boot on Fedora and if there are solutions (other than those tried before which did not work).
You might need to disable secure boot during the install of Fedora.
Also, try to boot from a file. Press F2 to get into the bios, then select boot from file.
Try a different usb stick if you have one available, just to rule it out. Or like the post above mentions, try a different iso burner like Balena or Rufus.
