Ive had my Framework 16 up and running almost 2 weeks and I try to join a meeting and no one can hear me. I check my switches and my camera works just fine. Audio is set to Linux in bios, I can hear just fine. No one can hear me. Ive tried all the audio options and none work. I ended up using a headset but Id like to get this fixed. Ive reached out to Framework as I saw someone else here had the same issue, but just in case there is something else I can check, I wanted to ask the brain trust.

Thank you in advance.

You could check that your webcam cable is seated properly, both ends.

Is the microphone disable switch on the bezel set to disable the microphone?

Just to rule out; the microphone off switch is mirrored compared to the webcam off switch. So the microphone switch should be to the left and the webcam switch to the right to have them both on.

I found this a bit counter intuitive

I resat the end that connects to the camera pcb, but Im not entirely sure how to find the other end. Is there a guide for that?

Ive tried the mic switch both ways. Unless I need to reboot between, its not working.

Ive tried the switch in both directions and it just doesnt work.

Check the guide for replacing the lid / screen top cover. Every cable needs to be disconnected to do that, so the webcam cable needs to be in there.

Hello there!

I started experiencing this same issue. My camera detects fine, but my microphone does not. It was working previously but stopped working between April 18 2026, and May 7 2026.

For troubleshooting I tried rebooting with both the camera/mic switches on and off and I removed my bezel to inspect the webcam module. I also reseated the webcam cable from both ends and there was no change (camera still works, microphone does not).

External microphones also work fine which is why it took me so long to notice (I don’t use the built in mic often).

I loaded Fedora on a flash drive and booted from that and the built in microphone DID start working. So I think this is a software issue with bazzite on the Framework 16, and that is why we are seeing 3 reports (including mine) in the same time frame.

Next, I’m going to open an issue up with Bazzite devs (assuming i can find the appropriate place to report) to see if they can look into it since it doesn’t seem to be a hardware issue.

EDITED TO UPDATE - found their issue tracker quickly and this issue has already been reported by someone else: [Regression] Framework Laptop 16 - Audio Errors after alsa-ucm upgrade · Issue #4833 · ublue-os/bazzite · GitHub
