Mobility when you bring fw12 and fw13 together

Hi all,

I already have a fw13 machine and preordered fw12.
I think I’ll leave fw13 at home (or at the office) and bring fw12 anywhere I go. However, since fw13 has more powerful cpu, I might have some occasions that I need to bring both.

So I just want to know your opinion about bringing two 1.3kg machines at the same time. Would it be doable..? Or would it be a crazy idea if you use metro?

Thanks!

I’d personally just stick with lugging one machine around. The 13 is a heck of a laptop with the AI chip. If you don’t need the touch screen or stylus from the 12 I’d just stick with the 13.

That’s true! If I really do so, it will be because I am taking a flight and need to work in the sky or something because airplane trays are usually too small for fw13…

Yeah I feel that. Come up to economy plus haha.

Definitely not crazy at all. I regularly bring a regular 14" laptop and a quite large tablet on my travels. IMO it’s mostly about picking the right bag. Personally prefer bags with dedicated compartments so that I don’t need additional protective sleeves.

One of my personal favorites is the Thule Paramount 24L (rolltop version). It has two dedicated compartments which should be able to hold both devices. The smaller compartment is marketed for tablets but can hold my 14" laptop just fine. The bike commuter 20L version might also be a good fit, but have not tested it yet. Personally a big Thule fan, but there are many alternative options out there.

You can also drop by /r/manybaggers and /r/onebag to get some recommendations. Here are two great resources from those communities:

Sadly did not find a suitable / easy filter for two laptop / tablet compartments.

I don’t take public transit to work, but I do bring two laptops. A Dell Latittude 14" and my FW13. I only bring one charger though, that is where the weight adds up. Not something I want to carry around a long distance, but I have in the past and would in the future. I know my old Thinkpad T430 plus batteries, charger, accessories easily weighed 4kg, and I lugged that thing around everywhere. This was with a briefcase style bag, with a backpack…probably would not even notice it.
