just noticed that both the 12 & 13 are both advertised as 1.3kg. Isn’t the 12 smaller & made of plastic?
Yes, Laptop 12 is smaller. But Laptop 12 has touchscreen panel supporting stylus pen which is heavier than Laptop 13’s display panel. That’s why the weight is similar.
Also there are still structural metal chassis parts baked in for rigidity - just not visible (and IIRC not the full area).
They’re a pretty similar size. The 12 is a little bit smaller, but thicker and the screen has a relatively thick glass front, and the hinge and frame is also a bit more sturdy and boxy.
I was surprised by how think and heavy the 12 is when I got mine. Not a huge deal, but still
