Suggestions on carrying bag or sleeves

Following up on the successful Suggestions on carry bag or sleeve (Framework 13) and Recommended laptop bags / cases / sleeves? (Framework 16), I figured I would start a thread for the Framework 12 as I’m patiently waiting for mine!

For my 13", I have been using a Defender-A13 Laptop Sleeve for 13.5-inch Microsoft Surface Laptop and I’m really happy with it (see Suggestions on carry bag or sleeve - #132 by anarcat), so if there’s a tomtoc that fits, I would probably get that. Any suggestions?

What do you think! Join in the fun! Like, don’t dupe!

No cases here, I’m gonna throw the laptop around like a frisbee

…Okay I’m not gonna do that but I’m gonna go caseless to justify the rugged build

I’ve ordered this one, the dimensions look right. Also $15 during prime day week.

I’ve ordered this canvas sleeve in pink-white for my sage FW 12 - colour overload

I was thinking about this Lenovo but haven’t purchased yet:

I’m going to sew one myself from thick felt fabric.

I picked up a sleeve from a drop ship site and am hoping it will fit my FW12 otherwise it’s gonna bw the largest sleeve for a Kobo or a board game :joy:

I have two ita bags I’m going to use at conventions but not one specifically sized for my FW

I really appreciate handles like this, even on a small, lightweight laptop bag/sleeve. When carrying a bunch of stuff into a hotel at the end of a long day, having a handle or shoulder strap can be the difference in being able to manage everything at once and avoiding that extra trip out to the car, lol.

The only way I’d want a bag without a handle is if it’s truly as small as possible and would mostly end up carried around inside another duffel/backpack.

I’ve always used tight-fitting sleeves made of neoprene or felt, for example. The sleeved notebook is slightly larger, protected from bumps and scratches and still fits perfectly in the backpack.
I don’t feel like carrying around another bag.

If you live near a Micro Center and they have these in stock, you can try-and-buy the same day:

I’ve personally tried both of them in-store and they fit my Framework Laptop 12 and my usual set of accessories. I ended up getting the Inland bag because it has carrying handles and a quick-access pocket for a phone or wallet, which is quite useful.

Can you give us an update? Does it fit?

I’m batch 5., but I’ll report back when I know..

Hi, I’m using Hama Laptop Sleeve To Go 12.1 Beige (because of Sage FM12  ). FM12 fits very tightly, so it is not so easy to pick it out. But I believe that the sleeve will stretch over time. I like that it has a pocket for additional expansion cards.

How well did it fit the fw12. Do you have any images of it?

It is tight due to the thickness of the FW12 but it fits well. And it is very pink - a bit more pronounced than in the shop’s picture. I can take a photo later if you want.

I’ve had a 13” Mosiso sleeve roughly equivalent to this one (minus the handle) for years. It fit my 12” Surface Pro, and I’m gonna use it again for my Framework 12. Surface Pro is significantly thinner than FW12 (8.5mm vs. FW12’s 18.45mm), but if my sleeve has the same dimensions as the listing I’m sharing, it should still fit (sleeve is 20.07mm). Unfortunately the side pocket is too small to fit a charger unless you really jam it in there, so I probably wouldn’t recommend.

Found these nice recycled tarpaulin bags which I guess I will go for.

Think their 13-inch sleeve, designed for the 2020 MacBook Pro 13-inch, which measures 30.41 x 21.24 cm would fit. Have to double check all the numbers before ordering.

Got a very similar one from an old 13” notebook that I bought a while ago in Japan. I think I just grabbed it at a Yodobashi camera shop. https://www.sanwa.co.jp/product/syohin?code=IN-SCL13GY Fits very well and like it the most when I don’t put it into the dedicated laptop compartment of a backpack. It’s maybe 2 - 3 cm too long which I don’t mind as it’s portrait carry. (Edit: could be even the 11.6” version… but pretty sure I got the 13” one)

When the FW12 goes into a backpack I don’t use any additional protection. I prefer backpacks with elevated laptop compartments though.

For a minimalist sleeve I saw someone asking about laptop dimensions in another thread for a custom tailored sleeve by fitbag: fitBAG Classic Grey - custom tailored notebook sleeve, 59,99 € Don’t know if the user received their sleeve yet, but seems like a pretty neat option for not so common device sizes.

Would love to see some pictures too. I like the inverted colorway of your sleeve. Got the gray FW12 with 3x gray USB-C and 1x pink USB-C as EDC configuration. That would pair nicely with that.

Edit: Haha, damn. Just noticed it’s not inverted but gray / brown. I blame Ubuntu Nightlight. Still nice sleeves though.
