Motherboard front panel header

After info here.

Had the FW desktop a few weeks now.

One of the minor annoyances i’ve encountered is a lack of a storage activity LED…
Didn’t realise how much i noticed that until it was gone…

Cannot find documentation of the motherboard ports, but the FP connector looks the same as a standard ATX one…

Can i plug in a LED for drive activity here? If so i’ll design a front panel tile for it.

There’s a fairly elaborate (if perhaps pretty unfriendly) partial schematic/diagram document on github that has a front panel connector on page 14 if I’m not mistaken.

It’s kind of alarming that there doesn’t seem to be a plain simple manual on the product page. At least I couldn’t find one either. There’s some compliance manual “coming soon” but otherwise nothing that matches the word “manual”. You’d kind of expect that to be the first thing to be on any product info or support page. (That or a datasheet, depending on context.)

Looking around in “knowledge base”, Framework Desktop (AMD Ryzen™ AI Max 300 Series)

There’s a diagram here Front Panel IO Connectors (AMD Ryzen™ AI Max 300 Series) that has a connector. This one says “debug LED” where the github pdf says “Hard Drive Activity LED”.

Documentation does need to be reconciled, clarified, and cleaned up, that’s for sure

Well i tried it but unfortunately no luck here. The LED appears to never light at any point.

I also noticed it is labled as DLED not HDDLED, so might indeed be a ‘diagnostic’ indicator rather than drive activity…

Yep, a debug led not a HDD inicator

Though for framework: If you could convert this pin to a storage activity pin via a BIOS update i’d be VERY happy…
