New laptop midplate looks off

Just recently got my framework 16 and after assembling and using a few days, I took the trackpad off to see what could cause it stick up a bit. I noticed this on my midplate.

Notice the plastic part is not in its cutout and is not straight. Is this something I can safely fix or would I need a new midplate? I tried lightly pushing it back, but it didn’t budge.

I added some lines to help visualize the offset for others like myself that may not see the issue at first.

That doesn’t look right. Mine looked like so (unboxing photo):

This plastic piece is riveted, so no easy way to repair. Contact support for advice (probably new mid plate).

Okay, I’ll reach out to support.

Wow, that is off. Looks like a ‘quality escape’.

Are you sure it’s riveted? It looks more like two alignment pins and when the plastic was put down the right pin caught the edge of the hole and caused the lip of plastic to form. That in turn caused the plastic piece to not sit on the pin. Definitely a defect. Maybe easy to fix if it’s attached with that torx bolt in the middle. Take off the plastic, use something to fix the lip in the hole and put it back on. If it’s not riveted anyway. Else new mid plate is in order. Would be cool to see how that comes apart though.

No, I’m not, but I won’t disassemble my midplate now just to look. If it were alignment pins, the plastic piece would still be glued in, so equally difficult to fix without damaging the flimsy aluminum sheet.
