New laptop modular gaming of Tongfang huan 16 air gaming

I don’t know if this is the right forum to post it. If not, I ask that it be published where it is correct.

Developed by Chinese manufacturer.

It will be assumed by different brands such as xmg or medion so it can be a standard

nvidia graphics card

A competitive price. less than 1000 dollars a configuration superior to that of a framework, for example

Less than 2kg weight

When used by different brands such as xmg, this equipment will have great support

I think that now we are going to have a modular laptop, at a competitive price, with great support and at the level of a non-modular laptop. They can also create a standard by using different manufacturers.

I’m all for competition so for that reason this is good. However to say that this company provides great support seems like a fib.

This is a company that no ones even heard of.

As for modularity sure, you can configure a few things. Assuming that upgrades will be rolling out for this product in a few years is quite a leap. Also the topdeck is not configurable. I also don’t see custom ports. There is no emphasis on repairability and even if there is, the Framework is designed to be repairable, and not just the mainboard. Everything is repairable on a Framework laptop.

All of the modularity that Framework builds into their products costs money. Not having it means you save a lot of money and can offer something at a lower price and still have a profit margin.

There are some nice options here, but if I was in the market for a 16" laptop, I wouldn’t be interested in that at all when Framework is offering their own 16 with all of the additional modularity, repairability, and longevity built into it.

TongFang is behind it, it is a Chinese manufacturer that supports many brands, some like xmg with impressive support.

Even such a jaggernaut as Dell tried this concept before and couldn’t squeeze even a single upgrade generation out. This concept has to include enough forethought and buy-in at the company to actually receive the attention it requires to function. Oh, and be actually popular with customers - something that’s mostly out of control of any manufacturer.

Yes, framework 16 is more modular and as a concept it is superior.

But when a user looks at the price difference between the two devices, it is clear which one they will opt for.

Framework 16 has more potential, but I think competition will force framework to improve.

As for Dell, it is not an example of anything, it is not a reliable company.

The problem is that an internal GPU like this (especially NVIDIA) has been tried before. Unfortunately, it never led to more than 1 generation of upgrades, if any. Ignoring the fact that NVIDIA is super controlling about their reference boards and tends to pull out of projects at will, this design limits future cooling and power options. Although it may be considered less glamorous, the FW solutions allows for an extension card to in theory stick out of the back as far as necessary for larger boards, heat pipes, additional fans etc.

It’s great to see more players reattempting this, but unless they learn from history, I see it going the same way and lasting for only one generation.

The clarity will come with sales. Talk is cheap. Marketing tells customers someone spent money to dress it up.

Something tells me that a $80+ billion market cap says otherwise.

You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.

Dell is a great company, but at least where I live their support is pitiful. Obviously it sells by its name and in the business sector it is strong.

But still everything that happened with alienware and its modularity.

Let it be clear that framework 16 seems to me to be a great work of engineering, also in a slim 16 model. It is absolutely impressive.

But this new model is completely repairable, thinner, with different manufacturers that will support it, with Nvidia and AMD. And above all a more affordable price.

However, competition is good and this will make the framework have to improve.

As a DIY PC enthusiast I do have to beg: PUHLEEEASSE work together Framework, Lenovo, and Tongfang to incubate a endomodular laptop components ecosystem that’s as interoperable, repair-friendly, and accessible as the desktop computing space   (same goes for you Fairphone, Shiftphone, and HMD Global)
