some say that OcuLink cable that goes with DEG1 has some additional wires. Maybe that could be the reason too.

I also got @Kyle_Tuck ‘s adapter installed. Its great, works beautifully! I’m using it with DEG1. Seems I didn’t break the DEG1 after all, I just busted the Aliexpress cable. Issue is that there is just too little space for all those wires, pretty sure it shorted somehow.
Only improvement I’d like to suggest would be ESD protection in the board. It of course works without, but have to bit careful.
Just to report back here with my mod and experiences after around 2 months of usage.
First off, I did the mod for #49, which had me purchase a DEG1 dock, NVME to Oculink Adapter, M.2 Adapter Module + Graphics Interposer, and the other obvious stuff. My setup currently involves my laptop plugged into a 100w brick (has been plenty), and the GPU Dock plugged into a 850W power supply that connects to my surge protector. I am running the first gen Laptop 16 with a RTX 3080 as my GPU.
Setup of the mod was good and bad, the 3D print went well with PETG and has held up. The Ribbon cable I received was the 4-hole cable that doesn’t flex easy, which likely is the cause of my problems (more about that later). After getting it seated, I had to add captains’ tape to hold the cable down as it kept wanting to lift up, but I managed to put it all together. After finalizing that I had to run the Error 43 script and mess with some fast startup settings to resolve my RTX failing to detect. Afterward things were working to a degree.
After some time using it, I started experiencing blue screens that occur after a 5-7 hours of usage. Notably 0x133 and 0xD1 blue screens from Win32kbase.sys and Nvlddmkm.sys (most common). I’ve attempted numerous power setting changes as well as full reinstalls of my drivers. Neither have worked. Finally, I decided to take a look at my Bus Interface, which is running at PCIe x16 4.0 @ x2 4.0. This tells me my adapter is likely at fault.
Currently I have little idea of how else I can get this working, as framework bios is extremely limited in this area, and few guides are helping online. So, I will likely be waiting until the 8x Oculink adapter has been finished and brought public for us to order, as this has gotten too expensive to troubleshoot for me.
Has anyone in here gotten their occulink to work on linux with an RTX 50 series card?
I have a different thread where I was trying to get my DEG2 to work over USB4 - that never worked. My UT3G did though!
However, I purchased the occulink adapter thats mentioned in this thread, and that also fails to ever work with my DEG2 as well.
lspci shows the graphics card, but it never gets picked up by the NVIDIA driver. But.. it works when using USB4 on the UT3G. So I don’t think there is an issue with the occulink adapter ![]()
Right now, the DEG2 is on the short list to get returned in the next week - but if anyone has any ideas, Im all ears!
