I was wondering wether the bios would come with power limit access in the future?
Since the framework laptop is a tinkerers machine by heart, I think it would only make sense to make these parameters accessible. Especially when gaming, the APU can handle more than those 28W since it boosts to 35W over longer durations.
Glad it worked, UXTU is an userspace tool, so BIOS is not the limitation, the BIOS hardware TDP should still be 35W as setting above 35W on userspace tool won’t work unless Smokeless_UMAF is involved, but setting up to 35W worked
I actually made it work beyond 35W xD The STAPM limit is what restricts you, especially when there is one sensor in your laptop somewhere that reaches that limit. When you increase your STAPM limit and the slow/fast boost it can actually run it at 36 to 40W permanently. But since my framework would run very hot (skin temp over 80°C) I would advise against that. It took me very long to find that out tho xD
What’s the main difference between 3.05 and 3.09(without manual control)? If I understand correctly(from this topic)both 3.05 and 3.09 can reach 35W. However, in 3.05 35W is sustainable, while in 3.09 you’ll get 35W for about a minute or so before STAPM’d to 28W
Yes this is exactly what I was seeing. 3.09 just throttles instantly but you can disable that with UXTU. This software also comes with great presets for Framework laptops!
