Praise to the Framework Screwdriver

Getting this screwdriver with my Framework laptop has allowed me to work on more of my electronics!

I just wanted to thank the FW team for including such a high quality tool with all Framework laptops. The philips 0 bit is useful on all kinds of devices, the spudger (flat end) is handy, and the shaft gives you better torque and comfort than other options.

If you want, I think it’d be nice to share your stories of how the FW screwdriver helped you repair your electronics. Here’s mine.

Today I’m attempting to fix one of my mice. Previously, it was either the micro screwdriver at the end of my swiss army knife’s metal file, which is too wide for some holes, or some precision screwdrivers in my dad’s toolkit that are so narrow and slippy I literally couldn’t get the torque to open the mouse. Now I got past those screws easily. Fingers crossed I can fix it.

A few days ago, my phone had water damage. The internet said there’s a chance I can save it by disassembling it and soaking the affected components (in my case the motherboard) in isopropyl alcohol. I used the spudger to pry away all the glue holding the layers together and the philips head to easily turn all the philips 0 screws that Samsung uses. The last time I took apart a phone is when I had access to an entire ifixit kit. But all you need is a philips 0! The isopropyl soak cleaning process, whatever you want to call it, worked and my phone is working again!
