Price comparisons for Desktop storage

The configurator currently lists these storage devices, obtained by selecting the None option and reading the price increase per type/capacity. I’ve compared them to consumer-facing prices directly from Sandisk.

Item FW price £ Direct price £
SANDISK Optimus GX 7100M NVMe SSD - 1 TB 265 268.99
SANDISK Optimus GX PRO 850X NVMe SSD - 1 TB 269 312.99
SANDISK SN7100 PCIe 4.0 M.2 2280 - 2TB 505 447.99 239.99
SANDISK 850X PCIe 4.0 M.2 2280 - 2TB 625 617.99

Interestingly the faster class of the 1TB is cheaper with Framework, but Sandisk’s price for the slower class 2TB is cheaper even before a substantial 45% discount is added. I wonder if FW may have purchased some storage after a price hike, and then found it can’t take a loss when the manufacturer drops the price?

Anyway, I’m seeing a similar pattern on eBay UK - it is possible I’m not seeing some performance variations that accounts for the difference. Nevertheless I wonder if Desktop purchasers (such as myself) will get their storage from elsewhere to offset the recent (understandable) price increases on the mobo.

Update

Ah, I just spotted I went for the 7100 2TB in my pending Pro 13 order - £235.00. That was about seven weeks ago - a good illustration of how volatile the market is.
