I recently purchased the AMD 7640U Mainboard from Framework and added the PTM7958 to my order. Before applying I am curious to know if anyone has applied PTM to the 7640U Mainboard.
Did you notice any improvements?
5-10°C cooler, more with peak loads

I think that if it is a recent purchase, it might already have PTM on it.
I actually did it with PTM7950. PTM7958 will just be a difference of 1-2°C from 7950. Here’s a link to my reply that explains what I’ve done Framework 13 7840U running very hot under low loads - #4 by patocnr
Support confirmed 7640U comes pre-installed with PTM7958.
Interesting. I know for a fact mine didn’t (ordered mine around August 2025) since I had a pretty big improvement on thermals just from swapping it to PTM7950.
