Pulling USB C Expansion Port Suddenly Shuts Down Framework 13

Computer Details:

  • EndeavourOS
  • Laptop 13 Intel Core Ultra 5 125H

Issue:
I sometimes pull out my USB C expansion card when I unplug my USB C cable from charging my device which hasn’t been an issue before.

But my laptop INSTANTLY shutting off when this happens has occurred now at least 3 times.

I was using a 120 watt charger for it so that might be why but I swear I’ve never had an issue with this before. EDIT: Just confirmed that this issue doesn’t happen with my smaller 65 watt charger.

Sounds like this might be part of the problem. This is actually pretty strange, the rest of us usually have the opposite experience with expansion cards.,

Hey! Have you reached out to support? We may need to look into what’s going on for you. As for the expansion card pulling out… if you plug a different expansion card into the same slot, does it pull out as well? Are the locks on both sides properly engaged?

Yeah it was something that was a bit tense when I first got my laptop but now it’s much looser.

Never really caused any issues until a few days ago, just an annoyance really.

I’m going to reach out to them about this and a broken off footpad on my laptop too.

It seems unlikely I’ll be able to get the latter fixed but I was just trying to kill to birds with one stone there.
