Problem with USB-C expansions cards

  • Which OS (Operating System)?
    Linux Mint

  • Which release of your OS (Operating System / Windows 10, 11)? (if you are having a Linux related issue, please create your thread under the Linux subcategory)
Cinnamon 22 (also design I can’t seem to locate the Linux subcategory???)

  • Which Framework laptop (11th, 12th or 13th generation Framework laptop, Chromebook or Framework Laptop 16) are you asking for support with?
    Framework 16

Experiencing a unique issue, haven’t been able to find anything regarding this unfortunately.

I’m attempting to sync my iPhone to my laptop through a USB-C to USB-C cable. I’ve done this before in the past using a USB-A to lightning cable and had no issues. This time around using the USB-C ports acts as if I am unplugging and plugging the cable back in every half a second. I initially thought this was a bad cable but switching cables provided the same result. Eventually I decided to just take out the USB-C expansion card and plug the cable directly into the expansion port and it just worked. Monitoring the devices connected to my computer show that the USB-C port does indeed just turn on and off. I would really like help with this as it seems like it would have to be something with the software on the USB-C card or the way they were manufactured perhaps.

There have been reports of iPhone problems. See release notes.
Which iphone model and os version are you having problems with?
Which FW16 bios version?
Which expansion slot are you using?
I find slot 1 and 4 to be more reliable.
They use a different usb3 chip than the other slots.
