This thing seems to be selling like hotcakes.

With this rate it will be outdated when we Europeans can order it.

Indeed they are selling like hotcakes. I’m getting paid Thursday so I’m pretty hyped for it.

Swear everyone had equal chance, no? I got Q5 and Q4 was the earliest I could get. Was Q1/2/3 reserved for NA?

It was equal chance, but demand is / was extremely high so early batches sold out very quickly (UK batch 1 preorder here)

Q5?

Q1 Jan - Mar
Q2 April - June
Q3 July - Sept
Q4 Oct - Dec

Sorry, B5 (Q4 shipping).

I figured so, but I believe I’ve seen others in this community refer to Batches as Q. The good news is even Batch 1 was listed as Q4, so you’ll only be a bit behind the first 4 batches. Only FW knows how large each batch is, but from my experience in manufacturing, it’s likely the first 2 or 3 batches are smaller quantities. FW wants to be certain that production parts and processes all work out. A smaller manufacturer can only plan so well during engineering and validation phases of a new product. Sometimes with all suppliers shifting to mass production, issues bubble to the surface. FW can use the first couple of batches to work through issues (if any).

Enjoy the wait, it’s half the fun.

Hope this isn’t a hijack, but this felt like a relevant thread to ask…

If orders get cancelled, or surplus availability is found, or Linus drops a huge chunk of money to expand operations etc. will the shipping dates move up? Basically is there any chance that my B7/Q1 order would show up in December this year? Or will I be lucky to have it by the end of January…

To put it simply, yes money can always make things like this happen, but realistically it’s unlikely. Usually there is time set aside for a couple of hiccups in B1/B2, so if everything goes perfectly they have the potential to get ahead of schedule, but given that this is a first gen product, that is highly unlikely.

Taiwanese manufacturing is pretty good, so there’s a chance. If this was coming from mainland China I’d say plan on it being late.

One can dream.

Yes, by end January would be a reasonable hope. They owe it you by end March.

I choose to be a dreamer!

Generally pre-orders have a tendency to run late not early, so be prepared. The pre-order shipping history of the 13 could provide some insight. It’s likely the 16 will have a similar/improved timeline since framework will have more experience with tooling, assembly, etc. That said, I’m in the same batch (B7) and I’d love to see early shipment too…

So the 13" ended up having better delivery times?

So the 13" ended up having better delivery times?

I don’t know, wasn’t part of the 13 pre order. What I’m saying is that looking at the actual delivery times of previous initial 13 pre-orders it may give an idea on how accurate the projected delivery times of the 16 pre-orders are.

Ages ago, computer time wise, I ordered the 11th gen DIY on the first day it was possible.
That was in May, with expected delivery in July. Due to the way batches were consolidated into similar configurations before shipping, I didn’t receive my unit until August.

Enjoy the anticipation. For all the problems you read about in the forum, think of how many people have no issues to report.

My only issues have been misconfigured software. At the early stages, fingerprint reader setup was incomplete for Ubuntu, for example

Damn, in that case I am not entirely sure I can wait. Q4 could well be near Xmas or Q1 2024.
