I’m wondering is there any plans in the works from Framework have quieter fans for the heatsink?
I get there’s options (in Windows anyway) to lower power usage levels and thus lower the demand on the processor and lowering heat. But my only complaint is how loud the fan gets when the processor is under heavy use. Would be great if they had a quieter fan as an option.
Most likely not as there isn’t enough space to fit a larger fan (or another fan). If they made a quieter fan that’s the same size as the current one, it would have a lower rpm but that would mean its cooling capacity would be reduced hence worser performance. You can try a repaste. I’ve done it and have noticed a reduction in fan noise in both light and heavy workloads.
