Raspberry Pi CM4?

Just a thought, given all the discussions on alternate CPU options (particular ARM ones), any chance the Mainboard could be replaced with a carrier board for a Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4? That would certainly make an interesting project down the road, whether it be from Framework directly or a future community project…

It’s definitely technically possible, and we’d love to work with anyone interested in developing that.

Thats bound to have battery life out the wazoo. the intel processors spec’d for FW is like a 28W part. CM4 runs off 5Vx2.5A, puts it a little over half of just the CPU.

Or a carrier board for industry-standard Computer-on-Modules (like Qseven).

FWIW, Waveshare already makes a 15.6" laptop that uses the CM3. It’s slower of course. I believe ETA Prime on youtube did a review. Perhaps if you nag Waveshare they’ll update it for the CM4.

@nrp are there developer documents for motherboard specs at this time? I started looking into a CM4 carrier board earlier, but can’t find anything on the electrical/mechanical specs of the motherboard for connectors, and spacing.
