[RESPONDED] Battery charging rate stuck at 24.6W on FW13

I’m using a FW13, AMD 7040 with Ubuntu 24.04. I’ve got an Amazon Basic 65W charger (Amazon.fr) and an Anker PD cable (Amazon.fr plugged in the top left slot of the laptop and I don’t understand why I can’t get a 60 W charging rate.

Is it fixable?

Hi @Antonin_Mayet ,

Welcome to the community, do you still have the official charger? If so, are you seeing same charging rate as the Amazon one with or without the Anker Cable?

Since I did not purchase the official charger, I cannot determine if the issue is coming from the wall adapter or the cable. However, both devices have the PD marking.
Can it be that PD protocols are slightly different from the charger and the computer?

NB: I have noticed that the rate at which the laptop is charging varies quite lot during the process. Right after I plugged in the cable, the computer was charging at around 24.6-28W. After a moment (~5 minutes), the rate increased and rose to about 48W.

A 65W charger with a running laptop can’t put 65W into the battery, part of that has to go to running the laptop itself and part of it is lost to the wires/voltage conversion inefficiencies. The battery also won’t charge at it’s max rate of 1C (so 61W for the 61Wh and 55W for the 55Wh one) the whole time, it only does that in specific conditions and slows down a lot once you get close to full.

Ohhh yeah, I feel so dumb for that…

Thank you
