[RESPONDED] Fingerprint Sensor Not Responding

This week, my Framework (12th gen, Ubuntu 22.04 LTS) started giving me some additional errors at boot. At the same time, the OS settings no longer acknowledge that the fingerprint sensor exists. I assume these things are related.

I’m a little worried that I may have damaged something when I installed the new hinges, although everything else seems to be working correctly. I carefully examined the fingerprint sensor cable, which appears to be intact and inserted correctly.

Here’s the relevant output from dmesg:

    2.098660] usb 3-9: new full-speed USB device number 2 using xhci_hcd

And here’s what I get from lsusb:

Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub
Bus 003 Device 006: ID 8087:0032 Intel Corp. AX210 Bluetooth

Does this look like a hardware problem or a software problem to the eyes of someone who can understand these messages?

Hi @Rand_Brittain , Welcome to the forums!

can we check with ubuntu live and see if it’s getting same boot error, or lsusb is yielding same result as the you have above?

thanks.

Using a 22.04.3 stick, I’m getting the same results, unfortunately.

also same thing in fedora 38? have you tried?

I made a Fedora stick to test this, but before using it I made one more try to get the fingerprint reader cable seated correctly, which seems to have resolved the issue. Thanks for your assistance; if I hadn’t complained about it on the internet it would not have worked.
