Keyboard backlight works fine when powering up from Off, but after going to sleep it stays off. The app at https://keyboard.frame.work/ allows me to change settings but they have no effect. Same goes for the Keyboard widget from top right system tray and keyboard controls of FN-space etc.
Sorry to hear you’re having these issues with your keyboard recovering from sleep. I have been spending quite some time trying to replicate this issue on Fedora and other Fedora-based distros but have not been able to do so yet. Based on that, if you have not already I would like to encourage you to open up a Support Request. This could be an issue with the firmware of your specific keyboard, or something similar.
another data point: keyboard backlight restarts fine from resume for me using both Ubuntu 24 LTS and Fedora Workstation 41 Live USB, so I guess it’s not surprising @Jesse_Darnley hasn’t replicated it. I’ll see if I can turn anything up from the Bluefin community.
Also, a workaround from the Win11 thread: disconnecting and reconnecting the touchpad will restart the keyboard lights. It only takes a few seconds, especially with practice, and no reboot needed.
I just installed bluefin-dx and am experiencing the same issue (although I can turn the backlight back on with fn+spacebar) on my Framework Laptop 13 (11th Gen Intel mainboard).
Correction: it appears that GNOME is trying to control the keyboard brightness level (there’s a quick-settings item for it), and it was under the impression the keyboard backlight was off (presumably it doesn’t receive events for Fn+Spacebar). Adjusting the quick-setting “fixed” the issue.
