When i connect a second monitor to my “Framework HDMI output” (Samsung 4k display) i got 2 screen.
If i go to settings (from ubuntu22.04.3 LTS) the screens freeze.
When i disconnect the second monitor it go back to normal.
I have the same issue with another screen (LG display 4k) and USBC adapter (chinese brand) but only on 1 usbc port (i have 2 usbc).
Could it be related to where i connected the monitor the first time?
If yes, how to reset?
I have a Framework 13 with i5 1340P 1To ssd and 64GB ram.
2 usbc on the left and HDMI (top right) + USBA (bottom right)
i already did
sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade
sudo apt dist-upgrade
dconf reset -f /org/gnome/control-center/
lot of reboot
but still not possible to change screen settings with Samsung screen
Welcome to the community!
Based on your details above, sounds like you are connecting using a Framework HDMI card. I will bypass the USB-C adapter as we have no way of replicating this effectively as it’s a third party adapter.
On the HDMI expansion card front, do you see this behavior on a Live USB of Ubuntu 22.04.3? Also, which kernel are you using and connecting and disconnecting the cable, what do you see with this open and running in the terminal?
journalctl -f
Hi,
my kernel version: 6.2.0-39-generic
I did not try a live cd but i found one solution.
Before connecting HDMI cable:
- go to settings>displays>Fractional Scaling: enable
- connect hdmi cable
- disable Fractional Scaling and set screen settings to display only on external screen.
then it’s working fine.
I tried this morning with a steam deck dock (chinese brand…) on other usbc port and i had same issue and solved by enable Fractional Scaling as described before.
here is the output of journactl -f:
