RTC Battery / Motherboard Issue - damaged connector

I’m hoping someone has some advice. I have a laptop 13 with a damaged RTC battery socket and I’m looking for suggestions

The RTC battery died in my Laptop 13. I followed guides to confirm it had failed and bought a replacement ML 1220.

However I’ve had an issue where the RTC socket has been damaged in the process of changing the battery. I did remove the battery with SIM removal but I had issues inserting the new one.

I’ve had a look at the replacement battery module to see if that would work for me, but I discovered the soldering part of the process is beyond my skills.

I have seen where people have used tape to hold the battery in place. So I’ve tried securing it with Kapton tape.

At the moment I’m in a situation where the laptop will work if left attached to mains electricity or if disconnected for a short period of time. But beyond that it will not start.
I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on getting a good connection between motherboard and battery

Unless you have an 11th gen Intel board, the RTC battery is unnecessary. It will just draw from the regular battery if one isn’t installed. The only reason it’s still there is for running in standalone mode.
