Ryzen AI - Linux Mint 22 Cinnamon freezing after July 31st package updates

I implemented Clem’s PSR fix ([post #18]) and I have not experienced any freezes since. Large number of thanks to Clem ! :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks, Chris. This means we can now remove the amdgpu grub param?

James, Sorry but I’m not quite sure what you mean. My fix is implemented exactly as per Clem’s post, i.e I added the extra file /etc/default/grub.d/99-amdgpu-fix.cfg . As I understand this is intended to stay in place until a future release with the fix built in. I haven’t removed any grub parameters.

Ah, OK. I thought you’d fixed the kernel issue

Forgive my stupidity.

no stupidity detected! :slightly_smiling_face:

If I’m reading correctly Making sure you're not a bot! it sounds like the patch will be applied to 6.18 and 6.19, am I right @Mario_Limonciello ?

Linux mint only proposes the 6.17.0-23 as the latest at the time of writing, does that mean that we should manually install the 6.18 when the patch is released?

Also dumb question, how long does it take between the patch and a release?

Thank you so much

This is a question for your distro. 6.17 is EOL upstream.

Hello, i hate to be a party pooper, but it seems that this fix does not work for me :frowning: I am using 7 series AI chip from the AMD and Nvidia Geforce RTX 5070 GPU on a laptop, even after i made the grub changes i am getting full freeze of the machine. The laptop was running smoothly on Windows few days ago, but Linux seems to be problematic. I re-installed the OS multiple times and played a lot with Nvidia’s drivers but nothing seemed to help and no logs to be found. Some comments on reddit suggested using chromium instead of firefox (go figure…) but this is bull**t (imagine). Freezes happen around 10-20 min of light browsing. When playing games everything is fine so far. Let me know if you would like me to provide some more specific information.

Possibly related, there’s another open PSR issue being looked at:

Hi all

Linux Mint Cinnamon is now on kernel 7.0.0.28 - or at least I’ve ended up with that kernel on my Mint installation. Can those of us who were running with the amdgpu.dcdebugmask=0x10 now remove that switch?
