Ryzen AI Max shows up in open source Stable Diffusion benchmark

Not sure if folks follow this site… and this is very individual config dependant so shouldn’t really be taken as an absolute picture of performance … but someone running a Stable Diffusion clone has posted details of an image generation benchmark… and it’s … underwhelming?

SD WebUI Benchmark Data – and search for ‘8060S’ to see the result. <Spoiler alert: It’s around 1.45it/s for a 512x512 image>

Has anyone who has received a Framework Desktop run Stable Diffusion? Are you able to add this extension and run the benchmarks? (The extension should be available in the Stable Diffusion extension tab, it’s called System Info)

I’m waiting for my batch to ship. In the meantime … AMD-optimized Stable Diffusion models achieve up to 3.3x performance boost on Ryzen and Radeon | Tom's Hardware

Did you check Phoronix.com testing? That’s the most complete evaluation I’ve yet seen of Framework Desktop. It’s Linux, not Windoze, so that might conflate things given OS differences.

I was curious to see what this would look like. You’d expect it to be about the performance of a 7600/7600XT (around 6 it/s it looks like).

I was able to get automatic1111 SD up and running w/o too much trouble:

  • Linux 6.16.2-2-cachyos
  • TheRock/ROCm 7.0.0rc20250824
  • PyTorch 2.7.1+rocm7.0.0rc20250824

I submitted to system info but didn’t see it online (maybe it’s delayed). My results were ~3.5 t/s, what it looked like at various batch sizes:

Not exactly stella. What do you think is going on @lhl ?

It seems very config dependent … I’ve a desktop with an RX 9070XT, it’s only recently started working stably with ROCM and I’m getting about 1.6it/s currently.
