Screen Backlight not working

Last night I left my framework 13 (amd) open and on to download Wikipedia (for reasons) but when I checked my computer this morning the backlight was off. I could still faintly see the pixels if I held a light to the screen but otherwise it was dark. When I shut and reopened my laptop, it came back, but disappeared after a bit. This only happens in OS, not in UEFI.

OS: NixOS 24.05 (can send config if needed)
Screen Type: Matte LCD
Hardware: Framework 13 (AMD)

Guessing this is a Linux issue, since NixOS has been only problems for me so far.

Update: works on Fedora 41 live boot

Is there some kind of auto-dimming setting that is set to zero or the dimmest setting?
The reason I ask is that this happens on a different LINUX device that I have–if the auto-dim setting is set to the lowest setting, when the device wakes from sleep, it sometimes turns off the backlight entirely.

I reverted to an old revision of NixOS from last week before I updated which worked, so no clue I’m gonna be honest. I checked settings and that didn’t seem to be there.

I have seen a problem like this which was caused by power-profiles-daemon setting the abmlevel when I was hitting 30% battery. The fix in this post is working for me and paperd.
