[SOLVED] AMD Graphics Driver Install Error

I keep receiving the following error when trying to install the AMD graphics driver for my Framework 16 with an RX7700S, and video games do this weird thing where the picture doesn’t move unless I’m alt+tabbed away from the game and the game does not have focus.

This all started when I tried to upgrade to the latest version of AMD’s Adrenaline software, but persists even though I’ve downgraded to 23.40.18.02 from Frameworks driver package.

Welcome to the forum!

Try to use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to uninstall the gpu drivers then run the Framework driver installer again.

There should be guides online for how to use DDU.

I’ll second DDU. Very useful software when stuff like this happens.

I appreciate the assistance. So I uninstalled the AMD software from windows add/remove and then ran DDU. Then I rebooted and ran the Framework 16 driver package. This time I did not receive the error during the driver install, but the strange alt+tab/non-focused behavior persists.

This is progress, but not completely solved.

Is there a way that you can take a screenshot or image of the weird behavior you are experiencing? I’m having a difficult time visualizing your issue.

It ended up being an issue with the game “Satisfactory” itself. After uninstalling the game, I completely removed its %user%\AppData\Local folder and reinstalled the game.

I’d take a video, but the issue is now resolved. Essentially the game video was frozen, but sound would still work, and you could here the mouse mousing over the menu options at the main menu. The moment I alt+tabbed, and continued holding alt, the windows alt+tab overlay would display in the foreground, but the game would now be running perfectly fine behind it. You could see the mouse moving around, etc… The moment I would release alt and return to the game, the screen would refreeze.

Like I said, the issue is now resolved, but quite strange. I appreciate the assistance!
