[Solved] - Framework Laptop does not boot, when connected to an docking Station

Hi there,

I wanted to ask, if anyone could help me, with my current issues with my frame.work Laptop. I am running:

Windows 11 / Linux Mint Dual Boot, but the issue appeared as well, when it was either a Windows 11 standalone or a Linux Mint standalone OS.

It is a Framework Laptop 13, AMD-7040.

The issue is, that as long as it is connected to my docking station (an HP G4 docking), it won’t start up. It won’t even display the bootloader. The keyboard backlight turns on and the screen keeps black.

The current workaround which works very reliable, but is inconvenient is:

  • Unplug the Laptop from the docking station.
  • Startup the Laptop.
  • Once the Login Screen from either Operating system is displayed, it is safe to plug it in again.

This is especially during reboots an inconvenience.

Any tips or hints?

BIOS 3.18? It’s a known issue; you can either downgrade to 3.17 or upgrade to 3.19 beta to fix this.

Yes, I am running on Bios 3.18. I will report back, when I have tested your proposed solution!
