[SOLVED] New BIOS 4.02 broke my Linux Mint 22.2 installation

I am using Linux Mint 22.2 and I manually installed the new BIOS update from a USB and now I can’t do any commands through the terminal or any of the ttys. From Gnome Logs it says

I’m using kernel 6.8.0-90-generic with AMD Ryzen™ 7040 Series model

Sometimes when I kill the process from System Monitor I can get a few more commands in until it stops letting me put in commands again and it’s almost like it freezes up besides the rest of the system. The GUI is running good. And then it just finishes running anyhow and then goes back to running just fine. And now I can put commands in again.

A better way to say it is like it freezes up and then finishes the command, but when it freezes up, I can’t do anything commands wise.

I use lsusb -v and sudo lsusb -v. It only seems that sudo commands cause this. Is it just buffering or is there something causing this?

Please Help!

Update: sudo lspci -v doesn’t cause any issues, nor does any other command like fastfetch, even with sudo. Only lspci is causing this.

Power off the laptop, remove all expansion cards, wait 2 minutes, power it back on.

Thanks!

I got it to work, but one of the USB-C expansion cards work at all for either data transfer or charging. (I earlier fixed the issue by flipping the board inside the card. I think it finally gave out) I’ll just get a new one, but the port works fine (2.5Gb ethernet running at 2.49Gb) and charging from the other usb card also is just fine at least up to 1440p at 180hz on my main PC’s monitor with DP and 1920x 1200 60hz with my old monitor using HDMI. didn’t test the SD card reader, but it’s probably fine

You do not have to remove the expansion cards. Powering off the laptop is sufficient.
