[Solved] Will the FW 13 model(s) become hot or loud when connected to a 4K monitor?

Hi,

I’m looking into buying a Framework 13 and one of my use cases will be to attach it to an external 4k office monitor (i.e. 30 - 60 Hz refresh rate). Will the FW 13 with AMD Ryzen 5 7640U become hot and / or will the fans become loud under this kind of load?

I selected the AMD Ryzen 5 7640U but will other models (Intel, Ryzen AI, models with higher core count) behave differently or better in this case?

Other use cases will be simple browsing, e-mail, media consumption, coding, and little to no gaming.

I’m looking forward to hearing your experiences and insights!

I used to have a 7640U that effortlessly drove these monitors:

  • The built-in 2.8K screen
  • External 24" 4K monitor (in landscape mode)
  • External 24" 4K monitor (in portrait mode)

I currently have an HX 370 driving the same setup without breaking a sweat.

Your 7640U will have no issue driving a 4K monitor for the use cases you’ve outlined.

Thanks for the quick reply! It’s good to hear that the hardware can handle it!
