As more and more people receive their units and issues, quirks and similar stuff inevitably happens, I think it would be good to have a dedicated category for Troubleshooting to improve the structure of the forum.
I can understand your intent. However I think a difficulty to create the category is that “category” is less flexible than “tag”.
- If a thread for a troubleshooting is for Windows in Framework, what category is appropriate? The thread belongs to both “Framework Laptop” and “Troubleshooting” categories?
- If a thread for a troubleshooting is for Ubuntu in Framework, what category is appropriate? The thread belongs to both “Framework DIY Edition” - “Linux” and “Troubleshooting” categories?
Tagging a thread as “troubleshooting” is flexible, but threads by a tag is not obvious from the default top page: Categories in the Community.
So, do we create a category “Troubleshooting” with one thread that has links to other threads for the troubleshooting"? Hmm.
Thanks for your input, I actually completely forgot about the “help” tag tbh. In my opinion subcategories could help to make categories more structured and allow for the necessary specifications you mentioned. I don’t know if Discourse (which this forum is an instance of) allows for that yet though, so in the meantime predefined mega-threads could help. Those have been implemented in some cases across the forum, but very arbitrarily. Structuring the forum with megathreads (and merging existing posts into them) could be a promising and not too time intensive undertaking. The longer one waits with it, the harder it gets
