Touchpad rattle?

Is there any issue with the FW13’s trackpad/touchpad exhibiting rattle, like you see on a Thinkpad? I prefer to tap rather than click, and I don’t want a snap sound when I tap. The ideal trackpad would be that of a Macbook, which is firm and doesn’t rattle at all.

I too prefer tap to click. I can’t say that none of them rattle, but my 11th gen Intel FW 13 and my AMD FW 13 had no trackpad rattle.

Has there been any discussion about Framework putting a glass touchpad in the FW13?

The FW 13 has a glass touchpad. If you mean something like a haptic touchpad, there have been some discussions about it by community members over the years, but nothing from Framework themselves.

I’ve seen mention in this forum and on Youtube of people having issues with the touch pad of the FW13 e.g. one corner is noisy, parts of it are unresponsive. Is this a reliable touchpad? I wonder what the lifespan of it is.

Maybe others will chime in. I’m sure like anything, there will be a percentage of them that have problems. Framework does seem to have a higher number of defects than some other companies, but it may seem worse than it is because a forum like this is likely to attract people who are looking for somewhere to report a problem.

All I can say is that I’ve had two FW 13 machines and had no issues with the touchpad on either of them. My first machine didn’t get a ton of use, but my AMD machine has pretty much had daily use since I got it during the initial pre-order batches. So I can say for sure that they don’t ALL have issues. But obviously, some will.
