I just upgraded to Kubuntu 24.04 LTS on my Framework 13, Intel Core i7-1165G7.

The guide suggests tinkering with TuneD, which seems to default to isolating the entire system to a single thread, making it as slow as a Pentium 4. Fans roaring constantly.

I applied manual settings in TuneD to use 8 threads on my Quad Core, and then configured TLP with a 600 MHZ minimum clock to quiet the fans down. The silence while idle isn’t holding as long as it had before the upgrade. So still getting my power profile adjusted back.

Running great on my FW13 7840U. Only issue I’m having is my fingerprint sensor doesn’t like working when the laptop wakes from sleep but I don’t think it’s unique to Ubuntu 24.10 as there’s someone else on here having the same problem on Fedora 40

No not yet as I only became aware of the issue on mine very recently and then came across the other person with Fedora having the same issue on theirs and wasn’t sure if it was unique to me or not.

Running just fine! (FW13 7840U)

It fixed the WiFi issues I was having with the MT7922 under 24.04. Dropping signal and very low speeds.

yes I am using 24.10 the only problem i am facing is at random moments the whole os becomes laggy and slows down and stutters like it moving everything at 1 or 2 hz or fps after rebooting it solves it but it has happened multiple times after i updated to 24.10 it never occured in 24.04 so mainly is os issue. my laptop specs are 7840u, 32gb ddr5 5600 and 1tb gen 4 wd sn850x ssd with 120 hz display

Installed Kubuntu 24.10 on my newly arrived FW13 with Intel Core Ultra Series 1.

Fingerprint reader is not accessible to Bitwarden app
Scaling in login menu doesn’t conform to post-login 200%
Moonlight and OBS cannot find a hardware video encoder
Power profiles didn’t work upon first boot, but a reboot fixed it
Lowest power profile doesn’t turn refresh rate down from 120Hz to 60Hz, which has me doubting it does anything at all
Wifi reception is conspicuously low for a home with mesh wifi out the wazoo

That’s all for now. Everything else I tested (which isn’t a lot, admittedly) works fine.

Maybe these are issues already present in 24.04 LTS, idk.

EDIT: oh and it sometimes hangs on shutdown; blank screen with backlight on
EDIT2: wifi drop-outs now…

So it intermittently lags like a ZX Spectrum, and the fingerprint reader has issues.

I’ll certainly be holding off; are there up stream bugs for those issues I can keep an eye on?

I just upgraded to Kubuntu 24.10. My first issue is getting the keyboard to work right. It still has my previous settings, but they are ignored. I don’t know what the “Keyboard Model” should be selected. Whatever I try I can’t get the repeat rate to change–setting it seems to have no effect on the repeat rate.

The more annoying problem with the keyboard is that I like my cap-lock to be a control key. The setting is there, but no effect.

Anyone have a good setting for the Keyboard Model that works well?

I’ve had this same problem crop up twice now since moving to 24.10, also on a Ryzen. Haven’t tracked it down to anything yet, though both times so far I’ve happened to be watching a video when the problem happened. That could just be coincidence, though.

No it’s not an coincidence it is reoccurring in random moments for me when i watch YouTube or any video too and it has occurred more than 10 times for me now

I think I solved the issue of frame drop in the ubuntu setting in power tab my dim screen was toggled on after i turn any similar kind of functions like automatic screen brightness, dim screen, screen blank off or never i played videos and the frame drop problem didn’t occured till now but I will update if it happens even after turning those options off but for the last two days it didn’t occur

I updated to 24.10 a few days ago on my Framework 13 with Ryzen 7640U and am having a persistent problem when watching videos in a browser (YouTube on Firefox). The system freezes completely, then either recovers by locking itself after 10-20 seconds or I have to manually shut down by holding down the power button.

The system is otherwise stable, but I probably wouldn’t recommend updating yet if you are on an AMD Framework 13. This issue happens frequently enough (every 15-30 minutes when watching video) to be a significant regression from 24.04.

I have the same model, and also use it extensively for youtube but never experienced this issue. I haven’t upgraded though (fresh install) and avoid putting the laptop in sleep mode (just because there is also multiple people reporting issues related with sleep).
