UGREEN 500W USB-C charger

UGREEN’s got a 500W USB-C charger that boasts a 240W USB-C port: https://ca.ugreen.com/pages/ugreen-500w-gan-usbc-6port-charging

Pricey though, $370 CAD.

Is there any way to see how much power the FW16 is actually drawing through its USB-C ports?

There are many meters that measure actual power flowing through a USB-C port. This is one example, but you can search for “USB-C power meter” at your retailer of choice to see the multitude of options.

Do check the 240W power adapter thread for caveats as right now it seems there’s some issue with how laptop’s embedded controller manages the power consumption for different part of the system that leads to system bouncing very annoyingly between high performance and half-performance modes as the battery charge state oscillates around 90% charge state making the 180W charger a much better choice still.

Hi,

I know this isn’t about the compatebility between these devices, but…. . i bought both devices (Framework Laptop 16 (AMD R9 7940HS - AMD Radeon RX7700S)(UGREEN Nexode 500W) and got into quite some trouble. 1.) Non Consistent Frame Rates, 2.) Power Target of AMD SmartShift going up but not beeing meet (FW16 charger 120W Power Target / UGREEN Charger 145W Powertarget) with the UGREEN the power on bouth CPU and GPU is constantly fluctuating. :frowning:

Known problem since forever. Throw away the charger or better the FW and get a new laptop with support.

Thanks alot, I jumped right in to that Rabithole and after 4 Days of back and forth with the Framework support team (lets just say which is a topic for its self….) There seems to be a light on the end of the tunnel, as soon as im home, im going to update to the new BETA BIOS 3.06, and im going to report my findings here  PS: The guys in the thread “A Call on 240 Adapter” wehre super helpful.
