Upgraded my Framework 13 to the 2.8K screen

Today, I received my “Framework Laptop 13 Display Kit 2.8K”, I was fortunate to be in batch 4.

As I have previously upgrade my Framework Laptop 13 DIY Intel 11th Gen to use the “Framework Laptop 13 Mainboard (AMD Ryzen™ 7040 Series) - Ryzen™ 7 7840U” (with the AMD WiFi and DDR memeory). I waited to update the display.

While the old screen has been working well, I swapped out the screen to the 2.8K. The screen worked without any issues. The instructions were great especially with the short videos to help confirm things.

It is really nice to be able to upgrade this screen.

Here are the built-in stats (within POP_OS 23.04) recognizing the 2880x1920 resolution at 120.0 Hz.

.

While I tend to use a large monitor at home, this new screen provides good use if you want to scale the display to 200%.

You should enable Variable Refresh Rate and enjoy a small bit of power savings: Variable refresh rate - ArchWiki

I do want to enable this mode once POP_OS uses gnome 46.

As I am using 23.04, the release is using Gnome 42. I was going to test 24.04 once the build is GA worthy.

As you have me curious, I might switch to Fedora as its latest version has Gnome 46.

Thank you for sharing the details on the feature.
