Virtual Machine Error when running lockdown browser

Hey everyone I hope this the right place to post this. I’ve been having some issues with my Framework 13 when trying to run the NBME web based testing browser (link). No matter what I try, I get the error that “This application cannot be run inside of a virtual machine.” As far as I know I’ve never run a virtual machine on this laptop. This program was able to run last year but for some reason its no longer working. I’ve also had issues with another testing software (Examplify) that at one point mistook the laptop for an ARM processor/virtual machine?? This one randomly appeared (during an exam rip) and but I haven’t been able to replicate it.

This is what I’ve tried so far with no success:

  • Fully wiping the drive using an external pc (diskpart clean) and reinstalling windows + driver bundle
  • Resetting the BIOS to default values.
  • Running it with windows defender disabled
  • Running it with BIOS VT-d disabled

Here are my current specs:
Framework 13
Intel 13th gen
Windows 11

Any help would be appreciated

edit:

I meant to say it’s windows trying to protect you, the future you are looking for is Virtualization-Based Security.

My guess here is that recent updates to windows have stopped your old program from working.
You probably need to get a newer version of the program from the manufacturer or revert back to an older version of windows, when the program did work.

I really hope someone finds a way to get that program working in a VM. I remember having to use that in college and it still left some parts of the program on your computer when it was uninstalled. Everyone just used the lab computers when we needed it xD.

I’m afraid that disabling virtualization-based security didn’t work. I tried what was detailed here and confirmed it was disabled using msinfo

Whats confusing me is that this software is able to run on my PC which is the same version of windows (24H2) which also has virtualization security enabled. Thats why im wondering if it has something to do with Framework itself.
