Warning when applying ViaScreens screen protector!

Thanks, Chris! ViaScreens got back to me.

I sent a message to ViaScreens and their response wasn’t very promising.

I was able to get my computer to boot again after having this same issue with via screens protector, but my screen is completely destroyed. I am still waiting on a replacement screen from Framework. It may be better to disassemble the screen and place it on a flat surface if you are going to attempt to apply a screen protector the screen seems pretty fragile, but I have not tried this method.

Was your issue also with the dust adhesive? Or was it with the screen protector?

I don’t think I used the dust adhesive, but I did have to lift up part of screen protector to get some of the air out the adhesive on the screen protector may be to strong for the display.

Woah, this is definitely something to worry about. Hopefully the official screen protector announcement can be updated to reflect this.

I’m sorry about your screen, hopefully they’ll be available on the Market Place soon.

Now I am properly scared.

How did you even order the replace screen? I am seeing the screen as “coming soon”.

Probably contacted support

Found a guide to someone who used a non-framework laptop matte screen and cut it down to fit:

Successfully applied my matte protector from Viascreen with no damage. Only used 3M magic tape as suggested earlier in this thread to clean off dust and not the included adhesive.

The actual protector’s adhesive seems pretty gentle, so I don’t think it will damage my screen if I ever need to remove it. But who knows…

In my first three-ish days, I removed and reapplied the ViaScreens protector countless times to remove dust and other particles, before I decided that I was okay with the minuscule amount left. It will more than likely be okay :+1:
