Water Damage Framework 13 AMD

It was raining heavy and water entered in the laptop. After that I started the device and it powered on normally. After a reboot or something (i cant remember) the screen was really really dark on 100% screen brightness. After drying it for at least a week it now cant even start. I tried disconnecting the battery and booting over the PSU and that worked.

So the laptop can boot over the PSU, also runs fine with an external screen but doesnt boot with the battery attached. What should I do? Let a local PC shop clean the board?

What I already did, I replaced the screen but that didn’t change nothing. The battery has to be replaced surely but the board cleaning could be done by a local PC shop right?

Which Linux distro are you using?

Running the newest Fedora.

Which kernel are you using?

Didnt check that.

Which BIOS version are you using?

The newest version available as of november 2025.

Which Framework Laptop 13 model are you using? (AMD Ryzen™ AI 300 Series, AMD Ryzen™ 7040 Series, Intel® Core™ Ultra Series 1, 13th Gen Intel® Core™ , 12th Gen Intel® Core™, 11th Gen Intel® Core™)

It’s an AMD Ryzen™ AI 300 Series Laptop.

If now the computer works normally in each and every function except the battery, then the only thing to do is to replace the battery or board cleaning the battery’s circuit but the former is probably cheaper

Right. But whats with the super dark screen? I looked it up online and found out it could be the “backlight cable or connector thing“ that’s damaged. What can I do about that?

Sorry I misread. I saw the external screen and forgot the dark internal screen. This is caused by backlight having no power, it could be the cable. Remove the bezel and disconnect the display cable of both sides and let the connectors to dry. Cleaning may be necessary
