Hey!
I have a framwork laptop and running fedora. Just wanted to check the webcam and opend cheese but the webcam is not listed. What can I do?
I ran this command: ls -ltr /dev/video*
and this is the result:
crw-rw----+ 1 root video 81, 1 7. Mär 22:27 /dev/video1
crw-rw----+ 1 root video 81, 0 7. Mär 22:27 /dev/video0
Some more information would be needed, give the output to lsusb
Is it enabled, it should be black switch, no red.
@Senhara Okay, I ran the lsusb command and got this:
lsusb

@Josh_Cook
Yes the camera switch is on the black position.
It’s definitely being detected.
It is not listed where I can select a camera in the cheese app.
Hi @Christian_Grothe ,
did you solve the issue? I am facing the same one.
Hey Florian!
No I did not solve it yet… I also did not check if it does not work with other apps like zoom or so. Will do that soon.
edit:
It does work with zoom though.
@Christian_Grothe while the camera is working with Zoom does it show up using the lsusb
command as:
Realtek Semiconductor Corp. Laptop Camera
This does appear to be something to do with Cheese as I find that the version available in the Fedora Flatpak repository doesn’t seem to work. The version available from Flathub seems to work but I believe it is an older version.
There might be clues in Apps/Cheese/FAQ - GNOME Wiki! but I’ve not tried to understand any of that yet.
