You’ll love the 13 … I have had one since they originally came out. I have ordered a 12 because of the touch screen & stylus capability as I want to be able to sketch up ideas before I sit down to draw them in inkscape for our lasers. We have 3 lasers here and want to be able to sketch on the go which this will work great. Just hoping I get delivery before tariffs kick in and increase the price of ownership. Hope hope.
Sounds like a great house…coming from a house where my son bought it..his brother lives here, as well as my spouse and I. I was just coming out of college (late bloomer) and son needed a roommate. I got married after moving in and it just works for having all 4 of us here…we split the house payment & utilities 4 ways…definitely nice to see 2 of my 3 sons (all adults) on a daily basis…and keeps our expenses low. …again, you’ll love the framework!
Hi everyone!
After years of following Framework’s progress development, I finally received my very own Framework (DIY 13 Ryzen 5 340) and I’m so stoked! It looks and feels great so far and it’s just fun to have such an exciting piece of tech with the coloured bezel and expansion cards. My health isn’t great so this has been a very welcome distraction. Getting the updates for production and shipping made me feel like a little kid on Christmas, giddy with joy and excitement.
I’m also using this as my step into Linux, away from windows. I’ve decided on Mint but I think I’ll wait a bit until others have tested and whatnot, seeing as I’m still very new to it. Until then I put windows on it so I can at least play around with it and enjoy my new toy. I haven’t been this excited about a piece of tech in a long time and I have to say, I love it! Thank you Framework team for creating this beautiful laptop 
Anyway. I’m sure I’ll be more active here in the future, but for now just glad to be here:)

I’m RV, retired airline pilot from France
I’ve always been interested in lightweight devices for travelling (I’m typing this on a 7-year-old Acer Swift 5). I’ve been tuning/repairing computers for ages now (started with an Apple 2 before switching to the “dark” PC world). And I really appreciate the Framework philosophy.
I’ve been looking at the FW13 for some time (years) now as a replacement. However, the FW12 might be an option as well (same weight + tablet mode), since I tend to miss my company iPad for mailing/websurfing in the dark (i.e. in my bed).
I don’t need a high end computer (only web, mail and office activities), and I would even appreciate an ARM device for better battery life. I won’t miss the backlit keyboard either since I plan to use the tablet mode in the dark.

I am loyal to my laptops, the one I am still using is lenovo z580(my first laptop) which has been working continuously since the day i bought it in 2013 (except for the times i do long travels(never without it) or the one time battery died out and had to be changed. It is actually a ship of Theseus having gone through a bachelors, a masters, a phd(obviously i used a giant workstation for all impossible tasks but it still worked Parallely along with another dell laptop non stop ) and now almost another masters, with ram upgraded twice and hdd moved to the dvd port and an ssd now on the original hdd port all salvaged at different time points from its contemporary dell which went to rest last year. And now after it has done all the herculean tasks that it was neither designed to nor supposed to , it is tired and old much like myself, having spent more than a third the duration of my lifespan tolerating my abuse, and deserves a good rest (still hasn’t quit yet working atleast 20 hrs a day). I am interested in a machine that can do tasks that are more resource taxing and that can be upgraded over time and become my next ship of Theseus. I am waiting for the framework 16 ryzen 9 or its upgrade to be restocked(which i hope is soon). So Hi.

Niice! I still have my XPS 9550 screen plugged into XPS 9570 motherboard that uses XPS 9560 cooling system. Graduated from that as I wanted more performance (cooling system makes incomplete contact with CPU die and overheats when gaming), but that machine, except for a battery which is long dead, is still fully functional 
Its sad how the durability and repairability parameters have degraded over time and how capitalism has drived planned obsolescence to be core of technical infrastructure creating a phobius cartel like scenario for morden day equipment.
Hello everyone! I’m Alexis. I’ve been using my Laptop 13 AMD AI 7 batch 1 ( with transparent bezel ) running fedora 42 for a few weeks now and I quite like it. Some of the latest AI series reviews gave me a bitter taste, as I might have made a different choice if I’d read them earlier, but I guess that’s part of being batch 1 hehe. FOMO is never going away. But reviews and FOMO aside, I’m really enjoying my user experience, so far. It’s quick, fun, pretty and everything I wanted it to be.

Hi I am Arno, Software Engineer from the Netherlands, I got my laptop 13 AMD Ryzen AI300 just a week back. Running it with project bluefin. I just upgraded from an XPS 15 ( 8 years old ) And an XPS 13 ( 10 years old ).
So far i am quite positive, it’s pretty fast. The screen is better then expected, which i was a bit hesitant towards, because both XPS laptops have a high resolution ( which i like ).
But a new laptop is always a bit getting used to, so this one as well.
I am hoping to use this one longer then my other laptops
Hello, I’m glad to have joined the Framework community. I discovered Framework through a reply to this reddit post I made, where I was looking for recommendations after experiencing the very thing that Framework is designed to address. Due to hit or miss quality with a Linux appliance system, and a typical repair-unfriendly design, I was left with a laptop literally held together by a binder clip and no good path to fix it.
My Framework 16 arrived a few days ago, and I’m thrilled with it. It’s solid and attractive, and the maintainability and extensibility is exactly what I need. The DIY option, combined with official support for Ubuntu and community support for other distros is all I needed to make the move away from my Linux appliance.
I’m running Pop!_OS 22.04 on the main storage, and Pop!_OS 24.04 with Cosmic DE on the secondary storage. My plan is to use this setup to test 24.04/Cosmic Framework compatibility and install it on the primary storage when it’s sufficient to be my daily driver. At that point, I can use the secondary storage to either try out other Linux flavors and verify compatibility with the Framework (I’m interested in trying out Cachy), or install the officially supported Ubuntu 24.04 for testing any issues I want to request support from Framework on. While a VM may serve this purpose as well, a bare metal installation will be more appropriate for testing Framework compatibility.
I bought an LED matrix as well, and I’m looking forward to playing around with that.
So, after using a Lenovo ThinkPad for 13 years, I have finally decided to get a new laptop, and the framework 13 it became!
It is running Debian 13 RC1 which installed like a snap, there are absolutely no issues at all and I am very pleased: the display is bright and produces very nice colors, the performance is amazing while the fan is almost never on so it is just silent, the battery lasts very long and I’m still surprised how light the laptop is.
I also like the aspect ratio of the display as I was never happy with those 16:9 screens that are good for watching movies, but for working? Not so much. And what I also appreciate a lot is the fast boot time and almost instantaneous wake up from standby.
Assembly was fun with the flawless manual, and I really like the packaging with very little plastic. The look and feel of the semi-translucent paper wrap and the moulded cardboard of the expansion cards, for example, is real quality.
So, I am very pleased with my choice for the framework 13, and I hope it will also last 13 years like the ThinkPad did which is still running fine, but low display resolution and the noisy fan were kinda limiting and bothersome for a while now. And how many cheap batteries that don’t last should I continue buying because there are none of decent quality available for many years now, producing a lot of problematic waste?
It was time to get a new laptop and this one was a great if not the best choice.
