What is this small hole on the 180W FW16 Power Adapter's USB C connector?

This looks a lot like an LED. But it’s not, right? What is it, then? It’s on both sides. I thought I saw other YouTube reviewers say the same, including the Level1Techs reviewer. I couldn’t find the timestamp, though.

Injection molding artifact?

Airflow?

I suspect it is where a pin has held all the wiring in its proper place while the injection molding takes place. If they have a means to retract the pin before the plastic sets then it may leave a dimple like that.

You see holes like that on certain molded plugs. I believe they’re just from alignment pins that were needed during molding.

There is a special tool that grips either side of the plug by inserting pins and clamping down like a pair of pliers. Then the plug can be RIPPED FREE from the laptop :muscle:…no actually it is just like @MJ1 said.

It is from the injection molding process and just happens to look slightly decorative. :factory:
