Also a big Obsidian user, don’t take advantage of all its features though and mainly use it as a normal notes app. Love the plugin and theme functionality though, have been considering a switch to AnyType recently. If anyone has used daily driven AnyType or has recs lmk.
Using the notes app that comes with Nextcloud (Desktop integration) under KDE plasma.
This way I can update the notes while on the road through my phone etc.
I’ve been using Google Keep for a while, but its privacy implications have nudged me towards exploring alternatives. Recently, I’ve started using an online notepad that has this neat feature—it automatically deletes notes after reading them. This has been a game-changer for me in terms of keeping my notes private and secure.
Joplin 7 has also caught my attention. It being free, open-source, and offering cloud sync across devices is exactly what I need. Considering upgrading to the basic tier subscription to enhance the sync feature sounds like a practical move.
I’m using Obsidian for trackable notes, and VS Code for just random snippets.
So basically Obsidian for Therapy and Projects. My notebooks are synced with Dropbox and that’s how I access them on the go.
VS Code for everything else.
I tend to be one who believes in organizing everything within just the file manager itself. So my note-taking app of choice is Apostrophe. It’s a pretty barebones markdown editor with your fair share of extensions, but it lets me just focus on the writing, with the organization part left for how I arrange all my files, which is what I prefer.
My only complaints with Apostrophe is that it isn’t the best performing application, when I have my editor and preview side-by-side, I notice that scrolling in the editor’s side tends to be a laggy experience, with attempting to quickly scroll via dragging the scrollbar resulting in no scrolling happening. Scrolling on the preview’s side is better, but because of formatting differences it often won’t actually reach the bottom, resulting in me having to scroll on the editor’s side to get where I left off.
