Which fingerprint sensor should I buy?

Framework 13 AMD Ryzen 7040 series

Hi everyone,

My framework fell from my hands and I damaged the fingerprint corner. The metal and glass is broken, the sensor in itself still works, but impossible to physically push the button.

I opened the cover to manually click on the button membrane under and it works, so I have my workaround for now.

I have 2 questions:

  • which part should I buy because on the shop (Framework | Fingerprint Reader Kit) I see only FRANFF0001 and FRANTD0001 but it looks like I have FRANBFJYA
  • I can’t figure out if I’m missing a small pointy part B to be put under the button here (see my reply) so that when pushing the button down the membrane will be pressed against this pointy part B, or if the button in itself should be moving and clicking on its own ? Because mine is completely stuck and not moving at all. If I’m missing this part, buying a new fingerprint part won’t fix my problem

Thanks a lot !!

PS: for now I’m missing 2 pictures because I’m a new user. I’ll put them in a reply, when staff will allow me

The only difference is the uniformity of the LED Light. They should be compatible with any FW13.

But I dont think the new one fits without bending the Top Cover.
I would advise getting a whole new Top Cover that includes the Fingerprint Reader (Framework | Framework Input Cover Keyboard Kit in what Language you need) and bending the Bottom Cover in place if you want.
Better Probably to get also a new Bottom Cover (Framework | Bottom Cover Kit) because it seems quite bend as well. And bending will probably be quite ugly.

I myself have a dent in the Bootom Cover but it is not as severe as yours and also on the right front where only the speaker sits. I did not bend it back.

@qsdsqd How is the progress?

hey !
thanks for your suggestions.
In the end I bent back the top cover a little. Just enough for the button to more or less fit inside. And then on the bottom cover right beside this corner, I only screwed the screw 80-90% of the way so the button doesn’t get stuck in clicked position. Now it works really fine: sensor and clic of the button.
In doing that I scratched the aluminium a lot so yes it’s quite ugly ahah

Works for now :man_shrugging: ^^

Cheers !

Nothing a silver sharpie or paint pen can’t fix! Heck if you masked it off right you could potentially paint it black and just around the outside.

Just don’t rub your finger too hard to wipe off the paint/marker!
