I’m sure there’s a good reason why, but I’m a little uninformed on this, so I figured I’d ask.
What would the difference in performance and battery life look like? What would the ratio of battery life look like between an Intel configuration with LPCAMM2 and an AMD one without? Performance?
as far as I know amd doesn’t use LPCAMM2 memory, they only have sodimm memory. so thats why they show no options to preorder an amd FW13P because at this time it is impossible to use it with an amd platform.
for performance and battery you should look at benchmarks or look at reviews of a similair laptop with similair specs as you would spec your framework.
The laptops aren’t released yet, but Framework says the Intel one lasts 20h, and the non-Pro AMD one with the same CPU would last about 8.5h when you take the current runtime and account for the capacity new battery, assuming other components like the screen and so on use about the same power.
The Intel Laptop is probably faster and better in most other ways, except if you require AMD for some reason, or if you already have DDR5 RAM.
Because AMD doesn’t have a reference platform that has AI 300 series (that’s already last gen) with LPCAMM2. It’s not up to the downstream system integrator / builder to do the R&D to match up the two.
The AMD AI 400 series are current gen…but very little improvement, if anything at all.

Remotely related (LPCAMM2 for the Strix Halo), that indicates the relationship:
