WiFi on FW13 AMD stops working after a few minutes

I’m running Ubuntu 24.04, with BIOS 3.05 on Ryzen 7840 with the AMD WiFi adapter.

WiFi completely stops working after a few minutes when connected to a specific router. Rebooting my laptop fixes the issue.

I’m currently on vacation and using a different router than I typically do. This only happens with this particular router. As a work-around, I’m connecting my phone to the router and using the hotspot on my phone. I assume this is either a driver bug or a hardware bug. Are there any steps I can take to try to diagnose this?

If ubuntu is using NetworkManager, you could try to switch from wpa_supplicant to the iwd backend. For me that’s what fixed all of the disconnection issues. I’m not on ubuntu, so I can’t really recommend any guide…

I have the same issue with Kubuntu 24.04.1, but on half year old HP Victus laptop with AMD cpu. It seems as some hw or firmware issue. Or something in Linux. In my case pings go from 1ms to 1500ms and from 4MBps to some 8KBps - and as you wrote, just machine reboot helps. Not sure if it helps - I am looking for a new laptop to replace my dead Dell 7740, the HP is just a backup. Framework 16 seems to be a quite nice idea … but they don’t deliver to Czechia.
HP wifi hardware is this, does Framework use different?:
